Interesting 4th visit on Lex Fridman for Eric Weinstein. Lots of fairly usual Eric stuff here but I found his FU money and reputational cancelling to be an interesting portion of the video. This is along the lines of an incident with NY Times report using a racial slur. How does morality work? All of this in a week when I look at Jesus responding to reports of a Roman atrocity perpetrated by Pilate in their culture war.

Well-being: Nested model of well-being. The elements that go into well-being and how to align them. The values of the evaluator.

Aristotle: eudaimonia: reaching your virtuous potential. Making a positive difference in the world

Integrity: honor, soundness, coherence, honesty

Global way of being, a rooted way of being

Tracks the evolution of cultural consciousness, across 4 different sensibilities: Invite us to see if we can build a way of being that integrates these 4 sensibilities and honors them

1. The oral/indigenous sensibility: they reflect a lot of what our nature is,
2. Traditional sensibility: a nation and a religion, traditional formal world views that bring civilizations together with an identity. How do we live. Judeo Christian version of reality.
3. Modernity: lots of value. Lots of ways of thinking. What emerges from science, Modernity pushes the church back and spreads, everywhere. Nietzsche this is going to be bad news when it comes to making values
4. Post-modern critique of modernism, any scientific dogmatism that gets knocked off and critiqued.

People have no idea of what their system of justification is.

Is there a stance we can relate to our systems of justification. Feel them and know we need them and step outside of them.

If we get the right frame on it we can abstract the wisdom from these traditions. Feel relationally connected.

The traditional mode of operating. Wisdom traditions from the Axial age.

Post-modern critique that warrants. You can take those four sensibilities. Might there be a way of making sense.

Both Brett Salkeld and Kale Zelden have been on the channel. After my latest with Brett someone wanted to hear Brett and Kale talk. I thought it was a terrific idea.

There's a real crisis in the church not just around sexuality but authority that has energized traditional Roman Catholics to complain about the institutional church. This is mediated in different ways among Protestants. Conversation of course went into Vatican II. This is a hot conversation you won't want to miss. Hard to summarize where all it went.
